THE University of Limerick will host the inaugural lecture of Adjunct Professor of Journalism and former The Irish Times editor Geraldine Kennedy next month.
Prof Kennedy, who was appointed Adjunct Professor last September, will give her lecture entitled ‘Challenges to Journalism’ on Wednesday, February 20 at 5pm in the Millstream Common Room on the University campus.
Prof Kennedy is one of Ireland’s best known journalists. She was appointed Adjunct Professor in September, 2012.
She holds six honorary doctorates from Irish universities. In March 2012 the University of Limerick awarded her an honorary doctorate in recognition of her award-winning, four decade career as a reporter, correspondent and editor.
Prof Kennedy retired as editor of The Irish Times in June 2011 after a career spanning nearly four decades. As a journalist, she was a ground-breaking and courageous investigative political reporter, whose primary duty she saw as the advocacy of accountability in public life.
She has personally unveiled corruption and law breaking by leading figures in politics at the highest levels in national newspaper journalism.
The event is free and open to the public and members of the campus community, however spaces are limited. To book a ticket, email [email protected] with the subject line “GKticket”.
