THE LIMERICK senior hurlers get their first competitive run out this weekend as they face Mary I in Bruff on Saturday morning in the Waterford Crystal Cup.John Allen’s charges have played friendlies already this year against UL and Clare. The ‘green and whites’ unfortunately have lost both outings, but this weekend should be a different story.
So far this season, Allen and his backroom team have used over 30 players in games. A 2-18 to 0-18 loss to Clare at LIT last week saw Limerick use 23 players in an hour run out.
Limerick fans will be buoyed by the news that Declan Hannon played a starring role in the defeat. The Adare star struggled with injury last season, so a good pre-season for the young gun is needed.
