BELLTABLE’s ‘Jack & the Beanstalk’ became the first panto to open in Limerick this year and the show is running until January 5. Its eclectic cast has singer Raquel Rocca (Finola Ice Cream), Jared Nadin (Jack) and Darren Shine (Dame Philippa Potty) with shadow puppetry by Emma Fisher and ‘walk on’ action by guest celebrities.
Raquel and Jared lead the action packed script by Mike Finn and there’s a chorus of young ‘stars of the future’ from CentreStage Productions. The dynamic show is under the direction of Richie Ryan.
“This laugh-a-minute family Panto features magical puppetry, including a truly spectacular Giant,” reports PRO Kieran O’Brien. “‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ is running daily at 3pm and 6.30pm until into the New Year. Each performance supports local charities, with various local celebrities coming on-stage for cameo appearances – with the raffle proceeds from their individual performance going to a local charity of their choice”.
Jack’s mam Mrs Potty is an all singing and dancing Dame, played by comedian/ entertainer Darren Shine. According to his director, “Darren always has a huge rapport with the audience and that is so important for a dame character. Darren was fantastic as one of our Ugly Sisters last year and this year he promises to be even better than ever.”
Bookings can be made at the art centre’s box office, 69 O’Connell Street and at www.belltable.ie. There are family ticket offers.
