A DEAL between Aer Lingus and maintenance workers at its Airbus hanger in Shannon was looking more likely this week as the company prepares to move the maintenace function from Shannon to Dublin.
All but 13 of the 70 jobs at the maintenance hanger will transfer to the capital as only one of the airline’s seven Airbus A330 fleet is based at Shannon. Unite union representative, Brain Gormley, said that the union and management are engaging in a Labour Relations Commission review and that the union has asked for clarification on a number of options which may be on offer for workers.
Aer Lingus has confirmed it will relocate its Airbus A330 hangar maintenance operation from Shannon to Dublin in 2013.
“Aer Lingus are in the process of forming an agreement with staff representatives in relation to relocation arrangements for staff who wish to transfer to Dublin and voluntary severance arrangements for staff who wish to exit the company,” the company said.
