Service station robbery
WITNESSES are being sought to a robbery at a service station in Dooradoyle last weekend and the Gardai are appealing for help in locating the raider who threatened staff with a knife.
A lone raider entered the service station wearing a balaclava and produced a knife before making his getaway with the contents of the till. He ran into the nearby Gouldavoher estate and Gardaí from Roxboro Road are  examining CCTV from the scene.

Bogus traders
MEMBERS of the public are warned about bogus traders who are conning people into handing over money after an attempt was made to persuade an elderly woman into paying a large sum of money for cleaning her gutters when no work had been done.
The incident occurred at Highfield on the Ennis Road at around 3pm on Monday December 3 when two men called to the home of an elderly lady and offered to clean her windows and gutters for €90. The men did some work however they then demanded a sum in excess of €400, stating that additional work was required on the gutters.
The woman paid by cheque which she later tried to stop but  it had already been cashed. One of the men was described as being small and suffering from Alopecia. The other was tall and had dark hair combed back. They were travelling in a navy van, possibly a Ford Transit.
Burglaries under investigation
THREE burglaries are being investigated by gardai. The first took place sometime between 1am and 9am on Thursday, December 6 at a house at Bru na Gruadan. The front door was unlocked and thieves stole a black Dell laptop and a grey Acer Xstensia 5510Z laptop.
The second burglary took place at 4.30am on the same morning at a house at Sarsfield Avenue in Garryowen where three thieves stole a Dell laptop and a black handbag containing a red purse and a small sum of cash.
Meanwhile, an alert neighbour disturbed four intruders who smashed the rear door of a house at St. Mary’s Terrace in Farranshone at 6.40pm on Wednesday, December 5. Having been disturbed, the thieves fled empty handed in a black BMW car. Gardaí at Mayorstone Park are investigating.
Property recovered
A NUMBER of items found at Woodcock Hill in Meelick on April 5are in the possession of gardai at Mayorstone and their owners are being sought. They include a set of Dunlop Golf Clubs and bag, a pair of black golf shoes, a Wikes chop saw, an Ingersoll power washer a McCulloch petrol strimmer and a Black & Decker hedge trimmer.
Mayorstone Gardaí also are in possession of a gold Glycine pocket watch with the inscription “David – best wishes- love mum and dad” and the date “2-8-2002”. Owners can contact Gardaí at Mayorstone Park at 061 456980.
