LIMERICK’S dance Co-Op Macronite are “going all out” for their last show of 2012. The collective have gained an international reputation for their high standard of production and line-ups. This Saturday the crew host a Manchester takeover with sets from Indigo, Biome, Jonny Dub and Danny Drive Thru. Manchester is a city that has a reputation for spawning scenes and trends, from Joy Division to New order to the Happy Mondays and infamous Hacienda days to its vibrant live scene and now its future sounds from nights like Hoya Hoya and Peers.
This sound that is currently enjoying the limelight within the UK scene will be making its way to Limerick, “direct to your brains via large speakers.” according to Macronite chief, Dan Sykes.
Indigo has been blurring the ethereal boundaries between Techno, Dubstep and Electronica since a self released debut in 2008. While others may be content to find a groove and settle, Indigo has remained ever fluid with releases on labels as diverse as Exit Records, Tectonic, Brownswood, On The Edge and his own Mindset Records imprint.
Biome coming out of the speaker like a sucker punch, “you know when you’re hearing a Biome track.” enthuses Sykes. “The Manchester native had been a criminally under-appreciated dub plate master until recently, keeping the city’s bass music purveyors waiting with baited breath for the next batch of dubs, vital ammunition with which to destroy any dance. Now the world knows about Biome and what he can do with a computer and a set of monitors.”
Macronites last shindig of 2012 happens in Dolan’s this Saturday November 24.
