Operation Wireless II hits Limerick crime

THREE men have appeared at Limerick District Court charged in connection with Operation Wireless II, the latest Garda operation targeting criminal activity and organised crime. 113 arrests have been made throughout the country and three men appeared separately at Limerick District Court this Wednesday in relation to the investigation. The arrests in a number of locations throughout the country have been linked to drug trafficking, robbery, aggravated burglary, possession of firearms, burglary, theft, handling stolen property, drug and other related offences.

Approximately 4,200 cannabis plants with an estimated street vakue of €3,500,000 have been seized at various “growhouses”.

At Limerick District Court this Wednesday, one man was fined €250 for cultivating two “mature” cannabis plants and having the facilities and lighting to grow them at a residence in Annacotty. The plants were valued at over €800.

Two other men were remanded on bail until next January in connection with the alleged possession of stolen electronic goods and separately a quantity of stolen metal piping in county Limerick.

Over a dozen arrests were made and files are being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
