Savita – she died after being refused a termination

Savita Halappanavar died of septicemia one week after she began to miscarry despite asking for a medical termination to the pregnancy. Ms Halappanavar presented with back pain on October 21 and several times sought a medical termination. Savita spent over two days in agony and was refused the termination because she was told that “this was a Catholic country” while she attended at University College Hospital Galway. Following the international storm that erupted in light of her death, Limerick fell silent last night to mark the tragic death of #Savita.
