LUNCHTIME Theatre at Savoy Hotel continues apace on Thursday November 29 and Friday 30 with ‘Fight Night’, a Rise Productions event. Written by Gavin Kostick and performed by Aonghus Og McAnally, ‘Fight Night’ was winner of Bewley’s Little Gem award and Best Actor for McAnally, and was nominated Best New Play at Irish Times Theatre Awards.
“‘Fight Night’ is a gripping journey charting the comeback of Dan Coyle Jr, a failed amateur boxer from a long line of accomplished fighters. Living in the shadows of his overbearing father and his brother’s Olympian success, Dan lets his training slip in favour of girls and booze”.
Cast of the ring and perceived to have wronged his family, this solo show picks up the slack when Dan’s son is born years later. Could this be his road to redemption?
As ever, Meave McGrath, Colm McGrath and Pius McGrath have booked an interesting show for Limerick. A tenner will get you a seat, soup and sandwiches in the theatre room of Savoy Hotel, 12.50pm; show time at 1.05pm. See www.facebook.com/lunchtimetheatre
