Friday November 9
Ulster Bank League Division 1A:
Garryowen v Shannon, Dooradoyle, 7.30;
Garryowen lost their unbeaten run last weekend to UL Bohemians. Tom Tierney’s men will be looking to bounce straight back from that defeat with a win over crisis hit Shannon. The departure of head coach Stephen Keogh will leave a big hole to fill at Coonagh. The chance to claim a first victory of the season will once more be the incentive. With a new head coach to be named this week, players know that places going forward are up for grabs.
Verdict: Garryowen to prove too strong for a new look Shannon.
UL Bohemian v Young Munster, Thomond Park, 7.30;
This game is going to be hard to call. Both sides are going well at present and will be looking to lay down a local marker once more. UL Bohs have the upper hand in cup meetings this season. The ‘Cookies’ will know that a home loss to Clontarf last weekend is unacceptable should they have visions of winning out the league. Munster’s rest policy will have a huge effect on UL Bohs side in this one. Without the game of the weekend in the league.
Verdict: Easy to say a draw, but we have to take sides, so we are going with Munster’s
Division 1B:
Buccaneers v Bruff, Dubarry Park, 7.30;
The trip to Dubarry Park is the shortest away trip this season for Bruff. Buccs are 2-2, while Bruff are 1-3. A win for the men from the country might just be vital to avoid a season-long relegation battle. With Connacht off this weekend too, Buccaneers will be loaded up with talent. It looks like it could be a long day for the Bruff side.
Verdict: Buccaneers inter pros to prove too strong.
Finally, there are no games this weekend in Division 2A or 2B. Both Old Crescent and Thomond will have the weekend off, following draws in their games last weekend.
