A Scottish man serving a mandatory life sentence for the murder of a mother-of-two has had charges relating to making false statements to gardai and wasting police time “discontinued” at Limerick Circuit Court. Five years ago, Samuel Jennings (66), with an address at Kilmacthomas, Co. Waterford, was found guilty of the murder of the woman after her body was found in the boot of her car.The court was told he was arrested in Rosslare after he missing the ferry to Wales after killing the woman and robbing her of €4,600.
On an application made by the prosecution last week, charges of making false statements to gardai at Limerick Prison on dates between July and September 2006 were discontinued and Jennings was returned to custody to continue his life sentence at Wheatfield prison.
