“BETTER than ever” is what the University of Limerick is promising the 2,400 visitors for the Special Olympics, an event which will bring vast kudos and a huge injection of cash to the city. ‘We are looking forward to UL becoming the Olympic Village. With all the athletes and helpers staying here, there will be a great buzz around the campus.
This being our second time round, we will do even better, having learned for the experiences of 2010,” Director of Sports and Recreation, Dave Mahedy, said.
A spokesperson for the University of Limerick said ‘they were look forward to the 2014 games being bigger, better and an even greater success”. Limerick Chamber has also welcomed the announcement with Chief Executive,Maria Kelly commenting : “Everyone in Limerick and Clare can be proud to welcome the Games back to the region”.
