NINE men were arrested this Monday in Limerick as part of an ongoing investigation into dissident republican activity in the Republic. Gardai from the Limerick Division carried out a number of searches in Limerick city and county and nine males were arrested with the men ranging in age from their 30s to their 50s. The nine have were detained in stations around the city and county with two men at Roxboro Road, four in Henry Street and one each in Mayorstone, Newcastle West and Askeaton stations.
Although no firearms were seized as a result of the searches, the men were detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended.
All nine have been released and files are being prepared for the DPP.
