Limerick FC have one hand on the title

-

LIMERICK FC have one hand firmly on the Airtricity First Division title ahead of this Saturdayโ€™s nightโ€™s clash with Longford at Flancare Park. Limerick lead the division by four points from Waterford United with just two games to go.

Limerick has a full house against Longford Town this season. One win, one draw and one defeat. This Saturdayโ€™s game, if it were not going to be tight enough anyway, will be a massive test of Limerickโ€™s resolve as they strive for a win to secure promotion.

Speaking ahead of this weekendโ€™s massive clash, Limerick manager Pat Scully commented, โ€œWe got the result we needed and deserved last Friday at home to a hard working Athlone Town team. We never gave up and continued to play our football and Sean Brosnan got the goal we needed with an excellent finish. We have a very tough task this weekend away to Longford Town who have been excellent all season. Tony Cousins has done a great job up there and they are now preparing for the playoffs. We need a win to clinch the league and must be at our very best to do so in Longford.โ€
Should Limerick now win on Saturday, the title race will go the last day against Wexford Youths on Saturday October 13.
