The all west affair was set up last weekend as Newcastlewest defeated Ballysteen 1-8 to 0-9, while Drom/Broadford won out over Fr Casey’s 1-10 to 0-9.
The Newcastlewest, Ballysteen tie was a tight affair at half time. The black and whites lead by 0-7 to 0-5. However a James Kelly goal just after the break opened up the game and eventually was the difference between the two sides.
The other semi final had a similar feel to it. Leading 0-6 to 0-4 at half time Drom/Broadford. Once again a vital three pointer from Ray Lynch opened the game up for the 2009 champions.
Drom/Broadford, the five times county champions, have reached their first final since that 2009 win, while Newcastlewest are in their second final in a row, still looking to bridge that gap since their last championship title in 1992.
Meanwhile Pallasgreen have booked their place in the Limerick IFC final after a 1-13 to 1-6 win over Na Piarsaigh last weekend.
The other semi final sees St Mary’s-Sean Finns take on Claughaun. That replay will take place on the weekend of the 6th and 7th of October.
