AFTER six years leading The Blizzards singer Niall Breslin (AKA Bressie) decided in January 2010 that he needed a new challenge. Not happy with being a writer and a performer, Bressie wanted to work as a record producer too, “I’m fascinated by every part of the music-making process.” His debut solo single, ‘Can’t Stay Young (Forever)’ became a big summer pop anthem.
Bressie became a TV star on our screens last year as a coach on RTE’s The Voice of Ireland. “I massively enjoyed and also learnt a lot from the first series”, he says.
The second series begins filming in October and Bressie has some good advice to any potential contestants: 1) Use a vocal warm up routine every morning. 2) Avoid alcohol for a few days prior to the audition as it dehydrates the vocal chords. 3) Nerves are a side effect of passion so use them to fuel your performance. Go through your audition in your head before you actually do it.
Bressie’s participation in ‘The Voice of Ireland’ has planted him in the heart of the Irish public as a true gentleman of the Irish music industry. After a sell-out show in Limerick last time around, Bressie will perform Live At The Big Top this Friday September 28.
