Limerick FC are three clear with four to play

-

LIMERICK FC are now within touching distance of the Premier Division. Pat Scully’s side are three points clear at the top of the table with just four games remaining.

This Friday night Limerick travel to Galway to take on SD Galway in what is all but a guaranteed three pointer. Limerick have already recorded three wins against the Galway side this season, scoring nine goals in the process.
With just four games remaining however, Limerick will know that a slip up on Friday night will only add to the mounting pressure on the Super Blues.
Last weekends 4-0 win over Mervue United will have gone a long way to steady the Limerick player’s nerves. Limerick had dropped points in their previous two games, allowing the chasing pack of Longford Town and Waterford United to gain hope.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s game, Limerick manager Pat Scully said “We were much better against Mervue Utd in our last game. We played some good football and that must continue this Friday night away to SD Galway in Terryland. We must concentrate on our job and perform at our best and keep our destiny in our own hands as it is right now.”
While Limerick are trying to secure all three points on Friday night, fans and players alike will be hoping for a draw between title rivals Waterford and Longford, who meet at the same time in the Deise county.
Should Longford and Limerick win, the title could very well be decided when the two sides meet on October 6th.
Should a draw be the outcome, Limerick could very well seal the title a week earlier at home to Athlone. This of course would be due to Limerick’s superior goal difference which is currently acting as an extra point.
Kick off on Friday night is at 7.45pm, while Limerick’s next home game is against Athlone Town on Friday the 28th of September. Again kick off will be at 7.45pm.
