With just five games now remaining, Limerick have let a seven point lead dwindle to a four points gap in just two games. Pat Scully’s charges face Mervue this Friday night at Jackman Park. This game is now crucial in terms of the entire season.
Limerick FC must keep winning if they are to return to the top flight for the first time in 20 seasons.
With an away trip to Longford still on the horizon, Limerick need to make sure of six points from six in their next two games, (Home to Mervue on Friday the 7th of September and away to SD Galway on Friday the 21st of September) before the SuperBlues travel to the ‘Flansiro’ to take on Longford on October 6th.
Speaking this week ahead of the Mervue game, Limerick FC manager Pat Scully looked for his team’s performances to improve.
“We had a very disappointing night last Friday against Waterford Utd, but now we need to focus on our next game against Mervue at home on Friday night. We will have to make sure the performance levels return to what they should be and that we all as a group face up to the task ahead of us on the run in, that starts on Friday and nothing short of our best will be acceptable against a Mervue side that had a very good result during the week.” Kick off on Friday night is at 7.45pm.
