TWO males arrested
A 21-year-old man who was shot several times at a hotel car park in Bunratty in the early hours of Sunday morning has died as a result of his injuries. Gardai at Shannon are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting incident where it is believed that, shortly before 4am a man, aged in his early 20s, was approached by two males a shot a number of times during an incident at a hotel car park. He received gun shot wounds to the head and body.
He was taken by ambulance to the Mid-western Regional Hospital Limerick where his condition had been described as critical. The men fled the scene in a waiting black coloured motor-car.
A firearm was recovered by investigating gardai near to the scene which is preserved pending a full technical and forensic examination.
The victim – 21-year-old Robert Sheehan from Moyross, had been sentenced to two years detention in 2007 for the reckless endangerment of Gavin and Millie Murray. He was found guilty for his part in the incident where he acted as a lookout. However, during the court case, it was said that he helped pull Gavin from the burning car.
Two males, aged in their 20s, were arrested in Cork city on Sunday morning and are currently being detained at garda stations in the city under Section 50 of the criminal justice act 2007.
An incident room has been set up at Garda Shannon Garda Station.
