Limerick FC face season defining derby

-

TABLE topping Limerick FC face their Munster rivals Waterford  United this Friday night at Jackman Park. (Kick off 7.45pm) The ‘SuperBlues’ are currently four points clear of Longford Town in second place, with just six games to go in the Airtricity League Division One season. Seven points separate the sides clashing this Friday night, so a win for Limerick could see them end Waterford’s hope of a title.

A highly motivated Waterford will arrive in Jackman knowing that their season hangs in the balance. Should the Suirsiders drop more points on Longford, a playoff spot could also slip from their fingers.
This weekend’s game is crucial for Limerick FC. Pat Scully’s side have already lost three times to Waterford this season alone. Another loss this Friday night is almost unthinkable as Longford would be expected to win away in Athlone.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s game, Pat Scully said; “We had a game away to Finn Harps and we ended up with a draw, that should have been a win, but I have no doubt Finn Harps will win more than they lose between now and the end of the season. We have a big game this week against Waterford and we will have to be at our best to win this one. We must keep our focus now more than ever to ensure we get the right result at home next Friday night.”
