Munster face London Irish in Cork

-

MUNSTER take on London Irish this Friday night in Cork. Rob Penney’s men will host the Londoners at Musgrave Park, (kick off at 7pm) in what will be their last preseason friendly. Munster’s friendlies may so far have produced differing results, but improvement is being seen with every run out.

A 31-7 loss to La Rochelle was backed up last Friday night, in Cork, by a 24-9 win over Bristol.
This weekend’s Munster side is expected to be very similar to the one which will line out in the opening RaboDirect Pro12 game against Edinburgh on Saturday September 1.
Meanwhile, members of the Munster backroom team will this week head to Edinburgh to watch the Scottish outfit with a plan to plotting their downfall in Scotland the following week. Munster’s new coaches are planning for a good start to the Pro12. The Irish internationals are not allowed back into action until week 4, so Munster would need to be atop the table when that happens to really mount a challenge in 2013.
Munster ended last season of course, trophyless.
In other news, this weekend sees the return of the domestic Limerick rugby season. Charity Cup is the order of the day with all Limerick senior clubs in action. See page 72 for this weekend’s fixtures.
