Limerick and their title rivals, Longford and Waterford are all off this weekend, however, Limerick’s next home game against Waterford United on August 31st, could very well decide the destination of this season’s top spot.
Should Limerick win that Jackman Park clash, they would go 10 points clear of Waterford with five games to go. However, a draw and or a loss, would see Longford closing the gap in second place which is currently only four points.
With six games now remaining, Limerick have four games to play at home, (Waterford United, Mervue United, Athlone Town and Wexford Youths), while they still must negotiate trips to SD Galway and Longford Town.
The trip to Longford on Saturday, October the 6th could very well be a title decider.
If Limerick and Longford were to win all their games between now and then the Longford clash would be the most crucial 90 minutes in the history of the Super Blues.
With Limerick having such a significant goal difference, (26+) compared to Longford and Waterford (13+) the Super Blues will see themselves, as do the bookies, as supreme favourites to go on and win the title.
However, fans, who have waited so long, dare not dream just yet.
