IT does not get any bigger than this. Limerick FC face the longest and biggest weekend in the club history as they play three matches in four days.
Limerick FC kick off their long weekend this Friday night at Jackman Park. The SuperBlues take on second placed Longford Town. On Sunday, the Limerick men will face current Barclays Premier League Champions Manchester City in a glamour friendly at Thomond Park.
The following night, Limerick are back in action once more as they face Shamrock Rovers in the EA Sports Cup semi final.
Limerick currently sit atop the Airtricity League table by three clear points. A win this Friday night against second placed Longford Town, with only a further eight games left, would see Limerick put one foot into the Premier Division.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s first game, Pat Scully is fully aware of the importance of these crucial few days.
“We were made to work very hard again last Friday night against Athlone Town. We left it late again to get the winner, but we are scoring when it matters to get the result. We will have to take it to another level against Longford Town next Friday to get the result we need. It’s a big game for both teams and we have to be at our very best.”
Ahead of the Sunday game against Manchester City, Limerick FC is gearing up for their visit to Thomond Park with the launch of a Mobile Ticket Office.
The Mobile Ticket Office will be in the Crescent Shopping Centre on Sunday from 12-6pm. Tickets from €10 to €30 are also available from Thomond Park, Limerick FC Club Shop, Gleeson Sports Store, Ticketmaster and all Ticketmaster outlets. Family and group discounts are also available.
In a hugely novel approach, The club will be running buses from Kilkee and Lahinch on match day in association with Kelly Travel for just €5 return. Buses will depart the Market in Kilkee at 3pm on Sunday returning from Thomond Park at 10.30pm and departing Lahinch at 3pm from the Bus Stop on the Ennistymon Road.
