Burglar accused admitted to bail

A 27-year-old man charged with the burglary of a pensioners’ home in Pallasgreen, Co, Limerick on May 31 last, has been admitted to bail after his wife part paid a quarter of his €10,000 bond at Limerick District Court. William Gammell, with an address in Monard, Co, Tipperary had been remanded in custody after he was arrested, charged and cautioned in connection with the matter where a burglary occurred at the home of 74-year-old Willie Creed and his two elderly sisters, 72-year-old Nora and 66-year-old Chrissie at the house in Ballyluddy, Pallasgreen, Co Limerick on May 31 last.

Gammell is also charged with aiding and abetting in the commission of a serious offence namely an aggravated burglary at Sunville House also in Pallasgreen where a family were held hostage while an armed gang ransacked their home. The accused man also faces a charge of being in carried in a stolen jeep at the time of his arrest.

An application to the High Court made on July 23 last was successful and the accused was granted bail upon entering into a bond of €10,000 and obeying certain conditions.

The matter is back before the courts at the next sittings following the summer break where a book of evidence is to be presented to the accused.
