FOLLOWING on the success of Cambridge’s St Catherine’s College Choir at St Mary’s Cathedral for a lunchtime concert, The Sutton Chorale is now booked for Friday August 3 at 1.15pm and two cathedral engagements on Sunday August 3. “The Sutton Chorale is a relatively newly formed choir,” reveals Peggy Carey of the Companions of St Mary’s Cathedral music. “They were formed in 2009 by Martin French, their director of music and aided by Daniel Battle, our former accompanist and current associate organist at St Mary’s Cathedral.
The choir was originally formed to help celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Minden, Sutton’s twin town. After this highly successful tour to Germany, they have visited many other places such as Brugge, Oostende, Southwell Minster and Gloucester Cathedral”.
Antony Matthews is accompanist to The Sutton Chorale.
Attend at lunch hour this bank holiday Friday or next Sunday 5 when the choir sings at Holy Communion, 11.15am and Choral Evensong at 5.30pm, St Mary’s Cathedral. Everybody is welcome to the services, and the Friday concert is free.
