Limerick to play Laois in Hurling Qualifiers

-

LIMERICK Senior hurlers will face Laois at the Gaelic Grounds on June 23rd in the first round of the Hurling Qualifiers. Laois find themselves in the knock out stages having suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Dublin last weekend. (Dublin 3-23 Laois 1-07)

Limerick will be overwhelming favourites for the tie which could see the return of Seamus Hickey. The Murroe Boher man missed out on Limerick’s defeat to Tipperary with an elbow injury.
John Allen’s men have already defeated Laois this season. Limerick won the National Hurling League tie, 1-24 to 2-12. Laois, who are currently managed by former Cork double All Ireland winner Teddy Mc Carthy will be looking to restore some face following their very poor showing in the league and subsequent championship.
Should Limerick win their clash on June 23rd, they will be back in action on June 30th, again at home, to Antrim.
With Limerick down to play two teams they have already beaten this year, the chances of making the final round of the qualifiers against a beaten provincial semi finalist are very high indeed.
