Free recycling events planned for Limerick

TWO free recycling events are to take place in Limerick on the 15th and 16th of June.

The first will take place in the Lidl carpark in Castletroy on Friday 15th June and the second will take place in the Tesco car park in Connagh on Saturday 16th June.

The events will run from 10am to 4pm and Limerick householders are invited along to recycle any unwanted items with a plug or a battery free of charge. Those who bring along 5 or more items will be entered in to a draw with a chance of winning a One4All voucher to the value of €250!

The event is being hosted by the European Recycling Platform (ERP) and commenting on the importance of responsible recycling, Martin Tobin, CEO, ERP Ireland said: “We are looking forward to returning to Limerick and encourage all residents to come along to Castletroy and Coonagh to recycle their electrical waste.”

Electronic waste is the fastest growing waste stream in the developed world and ERP is encouraging the people of Limerick to keep up their good work in diverting electronic waste from Limerick landfills. ERP recycling officers will be on hand to help with the unloading of items.

Those unable to make it along on Friday or Saturday can recycle their household electrical waste and waste batteries for free at:

  • Mungret Civic Amenity Centre, Bunlicky, Mungret
  • Kilmallock Civic Amenity Centre, Shannon Development Industrial Estate, Bruree Road
  • Newcastle West Civic Amenity Centre, Station Road
  • Hegarty Metals Recycling Centre, Ballysimon Road
  • Park Road Depot, Park Road, Limerick

Those buying new electronic items are reminded they can also return their old items free of charge (as long as the items are of equivalent type). Waste batteries can be brought back to any retailer that sells similar batteries.
