Firstly, Limerick had a super 5-2 victory away to Salthill Devon. In a thoroughly entertaining affair, Pat Scully’s men put on an exhibition of attacking football as their class truly prevailed.
Salthill did take an early lead, however this ignited the fight in Limerick as Stephen Bradley scored an audacious 35yard strike before James McGrath scored a poachers finish from a Rory Gaffney cross.
Salthill equalised just before half-time as Scully’s men fell asleep. The second half was a different story altogether as the Super Blues finally lived up to their name. Goals from Denis Behan, another from McGrath and finally captain Pat Purcell rounded off a superb performance.
Following on from that league win, Jackman Park hosted Liverpool FC on Monday night last.
Liverpool FC brought over some of their most promising talent for an extremely entertaining spectacle for the 2,000 strong home crowd.
Gary Sheahan gave Limerick the lead shortly before the interval after a superb through ball from Garbhan Coughlan. However Liverpool showed their class and former England Schoolboy international Nathan Eccleston scored a powerful effort from the edge of the area to equalise in what finished a very even game.
As mentioned, Limerick’s next home game is against Athlone Town on Friday night. Kick off at Jackman Park is at 19.45.
