Janesboro win Munster Junior Cup

-

It was the Boro who bridged a 30 year gap last Sunday when they defeated Nenagh two nil in the final of this year’s Munster Junior Cup.
The game was played in Cooke Park the home ground of St. Micheal’s F.C and the host Club must be given great credit as the pitch was in immaculate order.

The Boro were favourites entering this game but this did not deter them. It was just prior to the break that Janesboro struck when Shane Walters was tripped in the area and from the resulting spot kick ace goal-getter Shane Clarke dually obliged.
Late in the second half Clarke again was the hero netting his side and in doing so made sure of victory for his side.
The management team of Shane O’Hanlon, Daithi O’Donoghue, David Brown and Derek Braddish did a great job in having their side firing on all cylinders and the victorious Boro squad was as follows:
Darren Glasheen, Wayne O’Donovan, Aled Harkin, Wayne Colbert, Thomas Clarke, Dave Roche, Thomas Lyons, Mike O’Gorman, Shane Walters, Shane Clarke, Conor Lynch. RES: Keith McNicholas, David Donnan, Aidan Hurley along with John Ryan, Mouslim Mousserine, Lee O’Mara, Patrick Stanislewski, Adrian Healy and Dom Fitzgerald.
Earlier in the week the Div 2B Eamon Ray Cup final took place and this was a cracking game with Weston Villa coming out on top of a five goal thriller. Villa saw of league winners Geraldines B with the winning goal coming in the 92nd minute as both sides served up great fare in front of a big crowd.
With the season now almost complete it was Pike who won the Premier League and Lawson Cup.
The Boro also won the Tuohy and while Star and Summerville were relegated from the Premier League.
Taking their place in the top flight are Geraldines and Shannon Hibs. In the coming weeks we will look at how other leagues fared out as to who went up and who were relegated.
