Horan’s Limerick men face the ‘Deise’

-

MAURICE Horan’s Limerick Senior footballers face Waterford this Sunday at the Gaelic Grounds (throw in at 15.30) in the quarter finals of the Munster Championship.
Limerick had a very disappointing league season, remaining in division four, so this weekend’s clash with the ‘Deise’ is of vital importance if Limerick are to try and replicate last season’s run to the quarter finals.

“Waterford are a very tough side” commented Limerick manager Horan. “We were beaten by them in the league already this season and in the last six games, we have won three and they have won three. This weekends game is going to be now different. There is only going to be a kick of a ball between us”.
Limerick will be once more without the services of John Galvin in the middle of the field. The Croom midfielder is still out with a knee injury which is expected to be at test level in the coming fortnight. In Galvin’s absence, Tom Lee is expected to line out at midfield for the Treatymen, having returned from Australia in peak physical condition.
The side which will take the field this weekend will also be missing some star names such as Tommy Stack and Shane Gallagher who have both retired from last seasons panel.
Despite the losses of key players, Horan is still confident his players can put in a performance.
“The Munster championship was a disaster for us last season. We know that. We need to make sure we put our disappointing league form behind us and play like we did last season in the championship qualifiers” added Horan.
The game this weekend is going to be very tight and well a visit.
