Hickey out, Hannon in, for Limerick

-

THE LIMERICK senior hurlers were dealt another blow this week with the news that star defender and former Young Hurler of the Year, Seamus Hickey will be out for 6-8 weeks with an elbow injury. The Murroe Boher clubman injured his arm in the Liver95fm Sponsored Senior Hurling championship tie last weekend against east rivals Ahane.

Hickey had played at centre back and corner back in recent games for John Allen’s side, having missed the Allianz League as he was studying in America.
Allen described the news as “a huge loss” to his side. With Hickey having been pencilled in a potential full back on the Limerick team for Sunday week’s clash with Tipperary, the injury is going to force John Allen and his men into a reshuffle in the back six. Players such as Geary, Condon and McCarthy will now be tried in an attempt to fill a problem position for Limerick.
In other, more positive news, young Adare forward Declan Hannon is back training with the Limerick panel. The young starlet has missed the entire season so far for Limerick with a re-occuring leg injury. The Tipperary game might be a week too soon for Hannon, but do not be surprised if he plays some part in the game.
