Two charged with organising prostitution

A DUBLIN man and a Brazilian woman have been charged with operating and living off the profits of three brothels in Limerick.

54-year-old Thomas Lyons, The Warrens, Malahide, Dublin, and 43-year-old Zelandia Silvia, with an address at Ormston House, Patrick Street, have been charged with allegedly operating brothels at apartments in Riverpoint, Bridgewater Court on Harvey’s Quay and at Loughmills at Grove Island in dates last year.  They were also charged by Det Garda Vincent Brick.

The two who appeared at Limerick District Court were also charged with the alleged organisation of prostitution in the city in connection with the three apartments, and a further charge of making a false statement to gardai was also brought before the court in connection with Lyons.

Represented by Ted McCarthy, solicitor, neither made a response to the charges and were released on bail on their own bond, ordered to surrender their passports and sign on twice weekly at their local garda stations.
The matters were adjourned until September 5 next for the production of Books of Evidence as directed by the DPP, as both are to stand trial on indictment on the allegations before the court.
The two were formally arrested and charged following a garda swoop on the brothels last year.
