Three Operation Freewheel cases adjourned

THREE men who were arrested and charged following the gardai crack down on prostitution in Limerick last year under the cover of Operation Freewheel, have had their cases adjourned for statements and evidence to be handed over to their defence solicitors. Last December, 21 men were convicted of the offence of soliciting or importuning a person in a public place for the purposes of prostitution and all ordered to pay €470 to Doras Luimni in lieu of a court fine.

Operation Freewheel was a garda vice operation initiated in Limerick aiming to identify and convict those who seek and pay for services in the sex industry as well as those who run brothels.
However, a number of the cases did not proceed, and three were before Limerick District Court last week for mention.
The matters were adjourned until July 5, September 6 and 9 next for hearing.
