Limerick FC face Waterford

LIMERICK FC will be in search of revenge this Friday evening as they welcome Waterford United to Jackman Park. The SuperBlues lost 3-1 to their Munster rivals already this season and a loss this weekend would break a good run for Pat Scullyโ€™s side.

The Super Blues are in a rich vein of form having defeated Finn Harps 3-1 last Saturday. Limerick got off to the perfect start when former Crescent College student Garbhan Coughlan was on hand to tap home after a Sean Brosnan cross was knocked down by Denis Behan after only two minutes.
The home side fought back valiantly however and equalised a mere five minutes later.
From there on, Limerick dominated the affair as their opponents were looking to settle for the draw. The Shannonsidersโ€™ pressure eventually paid off with the inevitable goal coming through Shane Guthrie with a powerful header.
Denis Behan wrapped up the three points ten minutes from time with a poacherโ€™s finish after a great team move.
Pat Scullyโ€™s men still lay one point adrift of leaders Longford. Waterford Utd come into this game having picked up two points from their last four games. They struggled to gain a 1-1 draw against ten men Athlone Town last week. Dominic Foley is Limerickโ€™s only injury worry, so it is expected that Pat Scully will name an unchanged side.ย  ย
Speaking this week, Pat Scully said โ€œI thought some of the comments from the Waterford players after our last meeting were very disrespectful. Granted they won, but we dominated the game. We lost our focus a couple of times and gave them the 3 points.
We have a great motivation for Friday night. If we win we will be 10 points clear of Waterford, which despite it being so early in the season, would be a healthy advantage. They are a decent team, so we expect a tough game. We are playing at a good level lately with a strong focus and we will need that to get the three points.โ€
