Allen is boosted by the return of Seamus Hickey from the USA. Hickey, who missed the entire national hurling campaign returned to the panel a couple of weeks ago and featured for Limerick against Offaly last weekend in a challenge game in Pallasgreen.
Limerick won that encounter 0-25 to 0-20, with a side that saw Hickey at centre back, while behind him, the evergreen Brian Geary filled the full back slot.
Allen has indicated in recent weeks, that the challenges matches over the coming weekends will allow those players who did not see action during the league, have a taste of senior hurling.
Players such as Aaron Murphy, Niall Maher, Thomas Ryan and Shane O’Neill will all benefit from a run with the Limerick side.
This weekends game against Dublin will give Allen another chance to field some fringe players ahead of the championship opener against Tipperary on May 27th in Thurles.
Anthony Daly, the current Dublin hurling manager, is expected to bring a very strong squad to Cappamore this weekend, having been relegated to Division 1B of the hurling league last week.
Throw in this Sunday in Cappamore is at 16.30.
