A 35-YEAR-OLD man is to answer alleged sexual assault charges at Limerick District Court after the DPP directed that the charge of rape was to be dealt with summarily at the lower courts.
The accused, represented by his solicitor, must return to court on June 27 next after an adjournment was sought for further instructions to be given. Evidence was given as to the arrest, charge and caution of the man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, and an adjournment was sought before Judge Eamon O’Brien.
It is alleged that the assault happened on May 26 last at a house in the suburbs of Limerick. A statements order was made by the judge and had since been complied with, and June 27 next was set for the case to be heard.
