‘Blues’ face ‘Harps’ in another must win

-

LIMERICK FC will travel to Ballyboffey on Saturday evening to face an in form Finn Harps side. Limerick, who currently lie in second place, just one point off of Longford Town, know that away form will be key in securing promotion to the promised land of Premier Division football.
Finn Harps shocked the form guide with a 3-1 victory over leaders Longford Town last weekend, while Limerick moved themselves up to second place and one point off the leaders after a 1-0 victory over Wexford Youths.

The Super Blues put in a very professional performance and dug deep to earn a crucial three points. Pat Scully’s men showed maturity in putting their opponents to the sword. Limerick dominated the game from start to finish and created several chances, while denying their opponents possession for long periods.
After laying siege to their counterparts, the inevitable goal came through Rory Gaffney as he found himself in space from a corner and a close range half-volley after the hour mark was enough for the victory.
Pat Scully’s side now must travel to Donegal, to face a side who have won three on the bounce. However, Limerick have quality in abundance and they should overwhelm their opponents.
With a near full squad to choose from, Pat Scully will be expecting his high profile squad to pile more pressure on the leaders. Limerick will also be confident in the fact that they defeated their opponents 2-1 on the opening day of the season.
Speaking this week, Pat Scully has called for Limerick to make Finn Harps eat their words.
“Felix Healy (Finn Harps manager) called us an ordinary team after our first meeting, but our last few performances have been anything but ordinary. We played a great game against Wexford and the players are starting to set really good standards and it’s so important we keep demanding full commitment from ourselves. Harps away is one of the hardest fixture’s in the season, but it’s one of my favorites a great football ground with real atmosphere. We must be ready for a tough game.”
