Charged with breaching court order at Newcastle West

A MAN who was subject to a court exclusion order taken out by Limerick County Council in connection with an address at Sharwood Estate, Newcastlewest, has been charged with allegedly breaching that order.
31-year-old John Ryan, with an address at the said estate, appeared before Judge Eamon O’Brien at Limerick District Court last Thursday, and was remanded in custody until the following day where he appeared before Newcastlewest District Court. He was represented by John Herbert, solicitor.

At the county Limerick court last Friday, Ryan was remanded in continuing custody by judge Mary O’Halloran until April 26 next, when the matter is to be concluded.
Last December, Ryan was one of three men barred from entering the council owned estates of Sharwood and Castleview for a period of three years after Limerick County Council successfully brought applications to court.
Ryan, was found on the estate last Wednesday night and is alleged to have committed a public order offence also.
At the time that the County Council barring order application was granted, residents of the estates were said to have been “living in fear” and “terrified” of the antisocial behaviour that had been witnessed in the estates.
In what was a first for Limerick County Council at the time, the three men, one of which included the accused, were barred for a period of three years and a review of the order had been scheduled for next December.
Ryan also faces charges of breaches of the Public Order Act, and the alleged theft of Smirnoff alcoholic drinks valued at €20.
