LIT students shortlisted in film competition

THREE students of Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT) have been shortlisted in the national student film and multimedia competition, , DARE2BDRINKAWARE.ie,
The competition, which is for third-level students, challenges them to explore the relationship between Irish culture and alcohol consumption through a film or multimedia project.
The theme for the 2012 competition was ‘drinking in a home environment’.

Shortlisted for awards for their online game, How Drunk `re You, are the LIT students, Tom Stack (20) of Ballyhahill, County Limerick and his team-mate, David Donellan, aged 21, from Newmarket-on-Fergus, County Clare, while 25-year-old Peter Moloney, from Bridgetown, Co. Clare has been nominated for his film, ‘The House Party’.
Fionnuala Sheehan, Chief Executive of drinkaware.ie congratulated Tom, David and Peter on their success, and said that the shortlisted entries show a more realistic side to drinking than that portrayed on so-called ‘reality’ TV, which she said can leave young People with the mistaken impression that excessive alcohol consumption in the home is normal and without negative consequences
“We are delighted with the quality and creativity of the shortlisted entries from Limerick.”
