THE “Live” Last Waltz tribute show comes to Limerick this weekend. In the seventies The Last Waltz was a concert by The Band featuring Robbie Robertson on vocals. The Last Waltz was was the final concert of The Band’s touring career and was filmed by Martin Scorsese. At the concert The Band was joined by many special guests including Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, and Van Morrison. Now Dublin rock’n’roll troupe The Group have brought their own spin to The Band’s magical farewell concert,
by creating the ultimate tribute to this legendary show. Pearse Butler from The Group told Limerick Post that, “this re-enactment of Martin Scorsese’s award-winning documentary The Last Waltz has already seen Band fans young and old pouring into our Dublin shows to relive the buzz, excitement and stunning showmanship of the original concert and, of course, hitting the dance floor for some serious music appreciation.”
This tribute night not only stars The Group themselves in the role of The Band but also features a whole host of special musical guest-stars from the Dublin music scene! The show includes a ten piece band with a brass section plus special guests performing as Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Van Morrison and many more. The “Live” Last Waltz plays at Dolan’s Warehouse this Saturday March 31.
