Innovation in fashion celebrated

Aspiring fashion designers will once again battle it out as the third annual Irish Fashion Innovation Awards take place at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Galway city on Thursday April 5. These awards are a contest for aspiring designers and students from fashion colleges throughout Ireland, and showcase the highest expression of creativity from the most innovative and enthusiastic young designers of Ireland.

Categories include – โ€˜Student Designer of the Yearโ€™, โ€˜Accessory Designer of the Yearโ€™, โ€˜Jewellery Designer of the Yearโ€™, โ€˜Milliner of the Yearโ€™, โ€˜Designer of the Yearโ€™ and โ€˜Ones to Watchโ€™.

Pictured is celebrated milliner Mark T. Burke, winner of โ€˜Accessory Design of the Yearโ€™ 2010. Since his win, Mark has been commissioned to design pieces for numerous weddings and race meetings, most notably he designed the headpiece for winner of Best Dressed Lady at the 2010 Punchestown Festival. Mark returns to this yearโ€™s awards as special guest as he presents a specially commissioned collection for the eventโ€™s finale.
