Eagles head to Dublin

-

UL EAGLES are off to Dublin this Saturday 25th February for a game against UCD Marian at the UCD Sports complex.
This is the last away game of the regular season for the Eagles and they will be hoping to maintain the good form shown in the win over DCU Saints last weekend.

UL Eagles bounced back following their defeat away to UCC Demons on Friday night in that win over DCU Saints, 85-62.
Robert Taylor, Eoin Quigley and Jason Killeen all scored double figures as they enjoyed a win over Northern Conference leaders DCU Saints. “It was a good performance”, said UL Head Coach Mark Keenan. “It was important that we got the win tonight following Friday night’s game in Cork. It is a good confidence booster and we look to carry that into our final two games”, added Keenan.
Keenan is seeking to build momentum ahead of the league play-off stages with just this away game and then Belfast Star in Limerick on Sat 3rd March next at 7.30pm.
“With only 2 more regular season games left we will want to build on last Saturday’s win over DCU Saints and keep our good run of form going heading into the league playoffs in a few weeks time.
We have had four tough games against UCD Marian already this season between league, Cup and our own pre-season tournament. I am aware that they have replaced their import player in the past week and this will pose a different challenge for us for this coming fixture. Both of us will want to improve our regular season records and who knows we may even meet each other at some stage in the league playoffs.”
In the women’s SuperLeague UL Head Coach, James Weldon, paid tribute to Aoife McDermott after she helped her side to an 81-68 win over fellow title chasers DCU Mercy in the Nivea Women’s SuperLeague.
“It was a great team performance,” said UL Head Coach James Weldon. “I have to give Aoife (McDermott) great credit. She has been consistent throughout the season, and maintained this form tonight with 23 points. “We are delighted to continue our league form, especially as we approach the playoffs,” added Weldon.
