THIS week, Limerick FC shocked the soccer community with the announcement of two extraordinary trial signings.
Lubos Kalouda and Dawid Janczyk joined the Super Blues this week from CSKA Moscow, having spent last season on loan at PFC Oleksandriya in the Ukrainian League.
Kaluda is a 24-year-old Czech International midfielder who has been with CSKA Moscow since 2008. He has also featured, on loan, for Sparta Prague and Volgar-Gazprom. He was a member of the Czech Republic National U-20 Team which won silver medals in 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
In January 2008 Brno, Kalouda’s original club, were offered €4million by Juventus F.C, however, the teams failed to reach an agreement.
Despite further interest from English Premier League teams Newcastle United and Chelsea, Kalouda signed a five-year contract at CSKA for fee of €5.18 million.
Limerick’s other new addition is Dawid Janczyk, a 24-year-old Polish International striker who has been with CSKA Moscow since 2007.
Janczyk began his career at Sandecja Nowy Sacz. In 2005 he joined Legia Warsaw in the Ekstraklasa. Having moved from his home club to Legia Warsaw, Janczky joined CSKA at a time when their manager was being replaced. This forced the five foot eleven striker to move out to Lokeren, Germinal Beerschot and Korona Kielce on loan.
Speaking about the signings this week with extratime.ie general manager Kieran Judge, shed light on the potential transfer coup.
“As a growing club, we have managed to open up an awful lot of links in the past three years. We regularly attend summits with clubs from all over Europe and have gained contacts in the English Premier League, Russia and the Netherlands to name a few.”
When asked if they players are definitely going to sign with Limerick, Judge added, “The structures for a loan deal are in place. Pending club approval both can be signed. It’s up to us really, once we have a look at them.”
Both players are now expected to train with Limerick ahead of the new season which kicks off on March second at home to Finn Harps. The Blues will be expecting a full house for same.
