THIS Thursday Dolan’s Singers Club will feature the TG4 Traditional Singer of The Year performing on the Dock Road venue’s brand new Pub Stage.
Nell Ní Chróinín from Ballingeary in the West Cork Gaeltacht is, at 22, the youngest ever recipient of the TG4 Traditional Singer of the Year award. Nell comes from a vibrant singing tradition in Irish and English and sings some of the “big songs” of the tradition along with more humorous and light-hearted songs.
Joining Nell on the night will be Brigitte Kloareg. From Brittany, Brigitte is a powerful traditional singer who spent many years in the UK. A fluent Welsh-speaker, she was at the fore-front of the traditional music revival in Wales where she lived for 20 years. Now back in her native Brittany, she performs in Breton, French, Welsh and English. Dolan’s Singers Club happens this Thursday February 16 in Dolan’s bar.
