Irish Youth Choir celebrates 30 years

IN 2011, the UL based Irish Youth Choir realised its ambition to create a smaller chamber choir of 24 singers, selected from its 100 members.  Trained in some of the most dazzling repertoire from around the world, these young singers offer a new perspective on choral music. To celebrate its 30 year anniversary, Irish Youth Chamber Choir embarks on a nationwide Spring tour.
This concert tour will visit St Mary’s Cathedral on Saturday February 18 at 8pm with an eclectic programme of classic and sacred texts.

“The inaugural tour of the Irish Youth Chamber Choir entitled ‘Messengers’ will bring some of these most heartfelt expressions to audiences across Ireland,” hopes artistic director Greg Beardsell. “Featuring choral masterworks, based on both sacred and secular texts, from James Macmillan, Eric Whitacre, Pawel Lukaszewski, Moses Hogan and Irishman Greg Scanlon, our tour will bring these messages safely to you via some of the finest young singers in the country”.
Irish Youth Choir rehearses at UL and is under the auspices of the Association of Irish Choirs, which operates out of University Concert Hall.
