-

EVEN though the season does not kick off until March, Limerick FC have been hard at work securing some existing players as well as adding to their current crop for the new campaign.
In the past few weeks, Limerick FC is announced that Pat Purcell (pictured) has re-joined the team for the 2012 season.

Commenting on the new deal, Pat said: “I am delighted to sign on for another season with Limerick FC and look forward to going one better this year and achieving our goal of promotion to the Premier Division.”
Limerick manager Pat Scully added: “Pat Purcell is an integral part of the club on and off the field – for the second season in a row he has made the First Division Team of the Year. I’m delighted he has committed to Limerick for the 2012 season.”
With Purcell signed to lead from the back, Limerick have targeted that area for more improvement with the news that defender Shane Guthrie has also signed for the 2012 season.
Commenting on his new move Shane said: “I am delighted to sign for Limerick FC and I’m looking forward to next season. I can’t wait to start training with the squad.”
Pat Scully continued “I know Shane well, having managed him at Kilkenny City and Shamrock Rovers. He is a strong defender and has the experience of winning the First Division twice.
He will be a great asset to the team.”
Guthrie’s previous clubs include St Patrick’s Athletic, Dundalk, Galway United, Cobh Ramblers, Shamrock Rovers, Kilkenny City and Cork City.
Limerick FC are still in negotiations with a number of players for the 2012 season and hope to can finalise contracts over the coming weeks.
