Dear Donn,
As a season ticket holder with Limerick FC,
I would like to see them reduce their prices and attract a bigger crowd to their matches. Pat Dolan wrote recently that it is better to have 4,000 people at a match paying half the price than 2,000 paying the full price. With the extra people you could sell more in your club shop and promote the lotto more.
For the half time draws, the club should look to have better prizes like dinner for two or a shop voucher rather than the current three months membership to a gym.
The average crowd last season was 400 and this coming season with Cork and Shelbourne not in our division there will be no crowd puller.
By 2013, we should be playing in the top division and at the Market’s Field. This is the season to give value for money. Last month I was at the FAI Cup Final in the Aviva Stadium. The game was €10 to watch. The same price to watch Carlow, Cobh or Tralee Dynamos in the coming season, with an extra €2 to watch it from the stand? An adult ticket priced at €75, which would work out at €5 per game, would work. If this is promoted right it will sell well and club will have their money before the season starts.
The Limerick county GAA board have a season ticket for 2012 for sale for €100. This pass will admit one person to all games under the jurisdiction of the Limerick Senior County Board. With games going on every weekend and monthly, this season ticket is almost too good to turn down. It is time for Limerick FC to step up to the plate before it is too late.
Yours in Sport
