Sing into the  Christmas spirit
“COME and sing carols,” states the open invitation to St Mary’s Cathedral on Saturday December 3 at 5.30pm. “Join in and sing yourself into the Christmas spirit. People of all ages are warmly encouraged to come along in good voice to St. Mary’s Cathedral and sing heartily in well loved and familiar carols, accompanied by the cathedral organ and choir.  Carol sheets will be provided”.
The special guests are St. Mary’s Prize Band and of course, admission is free.


Men for ‘Big’ the musical

LIMERICK Musical Society is in rehearsal already for the Irish premiere of  ‘Big’, the musical it will stage at UCH on March 8, 9 and 10 in 2012.
The multi-award winning society is looking for males o18s to take part. Rehearsals take place every Tuesday evening at 8pm in CentreSpace Studios, Alphonsus Street.
‘Big’ is a Tony award-winning musical. It’s an adaptation of the 1980’s Tom Hanks film ‘Big’ which tells the story of a 12-year-old boy, Josh Baskin who grows up overnight having been granted a wish by a ‘Zoltar’ machine at a carnival. Species of Space 2

IN partnership with LCGA and ev+a International, Six Memos is running a curatorial seminar titled Species of Space 2. It takes place this Friday 25 from 10.30am-5.30pm and Saturday 26, 12-2pm at the beautifully augmented Carnegie Building, Pery Square.
A distinguished panel of curators will present a series of case studies on curatorial negotiations of space: Vaari Claffey, Alfredo Cramerotti, Katerina Gregos, Annie Fletcher and  Rees.
The seminar moves on Saturday 26 to Ormston House, Patrick Street and will be followed by Fugitive Dialogues, an experimental project by James Merrigan, Michaele Cutaya and Fiona Woods.

Profile of John Gilhooly

LISNAGRY man John Gilhooly, brother to opera’s baritone Owen, is artistic director of the famed Wigmore Hall in London. John Gilhooly will be the subject of RTÉ Lyric FM’s ‘My Tunes’ programme on Monday 5 December from 7pm. He’s also chairman of the Royal Philharmonic Society.
RTE Lyric FM tells us he will talk about his life and work as well as his Limerick childhood within the hour long programme. The show is presented by Aedin Gormley and broadcasts on 96 – 98fm.
