CONSTRUCTION workers in the Limerick and Cork areas who had been waiting with “bated breath” for the government’s promise of creating hundreds of jobs, have received a “slap in the face”, according to FIanna Fail spokesperson for Transport, Timmy Dooley. He was commenting on the government’s confirmation that a number of major projects are to be axed, as transport bears the brunt of capital spending cuts.
The planned motorway that would have cut the travel time between Limerick and Cork by half an hour has been axed.
While some €20million has already been spent on the initial stages of the M.20, the €1billion project is now among those that will be scrapped.
