On Saturday last, Limerick’s own wheelchair hurling club the Treaty Warriors won the first ever All Ireland Wheel chair hurling finals out in UL.

Teams traveled down from Dublin to play in this event which was hugely supported by the family’s and friends of all the teams that took part played with huge determination and spirt with saw Limericks senior team sail through to the finals where they met a very tough Dublin team in the finals with no score in the first half and each team playing there hearts out the game was looking like it was going to go to penalties that is until limerick conjured up some magic and played some lovely hurling to get the first goal with that limerick got into there stride and it wasn’t long before we got the second goal which won the game and the title. This is a fantastic achievement for a club that was only established a year ago. The club welcomes all players who may suffer from a disability to come along to Delta Soccer Dome to play for this fantastic team.
Head Coach David Fitzgerald would like to congratulate all the players on this great achievement and to thank Sean O’Connor and Gary Fenney for all there help in getting the teams ready for this competition. The club would also like to take this chance to thank Pat Culhane Limerick Gaa and Rosemarie Ryan and James Earls Limericks Sports Partnership for all there help in getting this club to where it is today.
